If you want to change your life, you have to be willing to put forth the effort. However, not everyone can do it alone. As a leadership trainer and advisor, I train, advise, and mentor managers who want to become effective, inspiring, and competent leaders.
The biggest misconception we have about leaders is that they are born, not made. Nothing could be further from the truth. The best leaders are trained, not born. Nor does someone become a leader simply because they have seniority or are promoted into a leadership position. Instead, good leaders who lead by example are made every day when they accept the challenge of becoming a leader who can envision a purpose, communicate a direction, and inspire motivation.
With regard to leadership, everything a leader is expected to do can be summed up as "accomplish the mission, and take care of your employees." Every order a leader gives can be summed up as "follow me, and do as I do." By using these two simple concepts as the foundation of my leadership philosophy, I have coached and trained many managers to be the best leader they can be – and to be the leader that their employees need.
When people ask me what it is that I do for my clients, I explain that normally this means asking you "where is your pain," and assisting you in developing solutions to ease that pain. More specifically, I assist you as you think through these five steps on any given subject:
- 1. Where am I now?
-
2. Where do I want to be?
- 3. How do I create a plan to get from where I am to where I want to be?
- 4. How do I execute that plan?
- 5. How do I refine that plan as I execute it?
Whether acting as a guide, a sounding board, or an agent for change, motivation, and inspiration, I will work with you to put yourself on the path you want to follow.
You can become a successful, effective, and inspiring leader if you commit yourself to the hard work and effort necessary. As a former U.S. Army officer with nearly two decades of leadership and management experience, I can help you become such a leader by guiding your analysis of the leadership challenges you encounter, teaching you simple and effective leadership techniques, and providing you with an objective source of feedback and mentoring.
